HOW TO MICROWAVE BACON
This recipe is very simple as you only need one ingredient which is bacon!
I suggest using bacon that is not too thick or slim in slices. Look for bacon at the grocery store that has a medium thickness.
Next, cook according to my instructions below. If you use thin or thick slices, you’ll need to adjust the cooking time in the microwave. So easy, yet so delicious!
If you want to get perfectly crispy and savory bacon every time – follow this method! Here’s a run-down of the steps to make bacon the super quick way:
Firstly, place the bacon slices on a microwave-safe plate lined with paper towels. Be sure that the slices/strips do not touch each other on the plate.
Next, cover the bacon on the plate with another sheet of paper towels. Optional: the paper towels can be slightly damp or dry.
Finally, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess grease. Let the bacon cool off and then enjoy!
Depending on what type of microwave you have, you may be able to get away with only cooking the microwave for 3 solid minutes.
A good rule of thumb is to check at the 3-minute mark. Pop the bacon back in the microwave if you need additional cooking time.
When removing the plate of bacon from the microwave, be careful as the bacon can be very hot, greasy, and easily slip off.
My suggestion: wear some oven mitts to keep your hands protected. Another way is to lightly touch the plate first to check temperature and remove plate touching the paper towel portion.
Another note is to remove the bacon slices from the plate so that they do not stick to the paper towel. As they cools, they can begin to stick to the paper towel here.
Be sure to remove them quickly after taking them out of the microwave.
-Do I have to use paper towels?
Yes. This way, the paper towels on top of and below the slices of bacon soak up grease and potential grease splatter in the microwave. Also, makes for the easiest clean up! Though, with this method, you cannot collect and store bacon grease after cooking as you would pan-frying.
-Is there a faster way to cook bacon?
Cooking bacon in the microwave is the fastest way to cook bacon. This method is way faster than pan frying bacon or baking it.
-How do I make my bacon limpier:
If you want bacon that’s limpier or (not as crispy) then cook the bacon in the microwave for less time. For 4-5 slices of bacon cook for 2 minutes. Add more time if needed – checking every 30 seconds.
-Microwaving Turkey Bacon:
Pretty simple – microwave turkey bacon the same way as this recipe instructions call for. Cook for the suggested amount of time as in the above cooking instructions for bacon. The cooking time in the microwave depends on how you like your turkey bacon (limpy or crispier).
-How to Store Leftovers
You can keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. Make sure to store it in an air-tight food storage container or sealed zip loc baggy. This way, when you go to reheat it, it’ll taste as fresh as when you initially made it.
